Q & A
Q Which topics do the program cover? Together, we will learn about the sacred lineage of yoga, anatomy, philosophy, ethics, The Eight Limb Path, chakras, meridian theory, meditation techniques, Ayurveda nutrition, the yoga lifestyle, in-depth communication skills, appropriate and safe modifications/adjustment techniques, and of course asanas, lots of asanas. Most importantly, this training is uniquely designed to help each trainee discover his or her authentic voice when translating the teachings of yoga to a class in an inspiring way.
Q How much does the 2011 program cost? There are several payment plans. Currency Converter
$3800 NZD, includes 6-months unlimited yoga and 10% off books and DVDs during course only.
$4100 NZD, includes one-year unlimited yoga membership and 10% off retail, massages and workshops all year.
Two working apprenticeships are available on a first come, first serve application basis. Enquire for details.
Accommodations and living necessities are not included any payment plan. A 50% non-refundable* deposit holds your place with the balance due the first night of training. (*Deposit not refunded after May 29, 2011.)
Q Are any pre-requisites required? You will be required to attend a variety of regular hot yoga classes at the studio a minimum of 4 times every week during the 5-month program. For this reason we ask you have a regular, ideally hot, yoga practice going for a minimum of 6 months prior to the program start date.
In addition, a letter of referral from a yoga teacher verifying your committed practice and readiness to begin a rigorous study of yoga. That's it.
Q Can I hold a full-time job during this program? The program is somewhat time intensive. Orientation night is on June 29, 2011. Training takes place for about 2 hours once a week (every Wed evening) and one long weekend a month (Fri night, Sat and Sun from 12 - 7:30pm). In addition, each week, 2-5 hours preparation time is required before each training meeting begins. You'll be expected have memorized, read or have fully completed assigned material by the due date so the program stays on track and your colleagues can count on you to be as ready to learn and grow as you are.
To answer your question, a full-time job is doable, but a 3/4 time - part-time job is ideal. It all depends on how quick a study you are. It's not recommended you begin teacher training at this time if you have another full-time commitment to another extra-circular event or hobby.
