Q What topics does the program cover? Together, we will learn about the sacred lineage of yoga, anatomy, philosophy, ethics, The Eight Limb Path, chakras, the Ayurveda doshas, meditation techniques, the yoga teacher lifestyle and career options, in-depth communication skills, appropriate and safe modifications/adjustment techniques, and a cross-section of asanas specific to Hot Yoga, Yin Yoga and Power Vinyasa.
Most importantly, this yoga teacher training teaches you teach! It's an uniquely designed program enabling each trainee to discover his or her authentic voice when translating the teachings of yoga to a class in a knowledgeable and inspiring way from the heart.

Q How much does the 2013 program cost? There are several payment plans. Currency Converter (All pricing based on on-line banking transfer. Credit card $175 NZD surcharge.)
Option 1: $4400 NZD, includes 6-months unlimited yoga at Hot Yoga (Wellington or Auckland respectively) and 10% off books and DVDs during course only. Option 2:$4850 NZD, includes one-year unlimited yoga membershipat Hot Yoga Wellington or Hot Yoga Auckland and 10% off all retail, books, DVDs, massages and workshops all year.
Option 3:$3400 NZD, plus 65 hours working apprenticeship hours (studio data entry, cleaning, front desk, etc.) before or during the course. Two working apprenticeships are available on a first come, first serve basis each year. Apprenticeships are awarded based on merit, financial need and generally go quickly. (Early Registration Discount does not apply to apprenticeship fee.) Enquire for details. Accommodations and living necessities are not included any payment plan.
A 50% non-refundable* deposit holds your place with the balance in full due one month before training begins. Enquire for other possible payment options.
*Deposit is refundable (minus a $300 application administration fee) up to one-month prior to the start of training. Cut off date for deposit refund is December 30, 2012 (Wellington) and Jan 12, 2013 (Auckland). There is no refund after these dates, nor once training begins.
Your place in the course is guaranteed only after application paperwork and all financial arrangements are fully complete.
Q Are any pre-requisites required? You will be required to attend a variety of regular hot yoga classes at the studio a minimum of 4 times every week during the 5-month program. That's 80 hot yoga classes at a Hot Yoga of New Zealand studio*. For this reason we ask you have a regular, ideally hot,yoga practice for a minimum of 3 months prior to the program start date.
In addition, if not applying in person, a letter of referral from a yoga teacher verifying your committed practice and readiness to begin a rigorous study of yoga may be asked of you.
* Additional class costs apply if pracitising at Hot Yoga Nelson or if you are on Payment Option 1.
Q Can I hold a full-time job during this program? The program is somewhat time intensive. Orientation night is Wed, Jan 30, 2013 (Wellington) and February 12, 2013 (Auckland). Training takes place for about 2 hours once a week (every Wed evening - Wellington) (every Tues evening- Auckland) and one long weekend a month. (Dates listed below.)
Two to five hours preparation time is requiredbefore each training meeting begins. You'll be expected have memorized, read or have fully completed assigned material by the due date so the program stays on track and your colleagues can count on you to be as ready to learn and grow as you are.
To answer your question, a full-time job is doable, but a 3/4 time - part-time job is ideal. It all depends on how quick a study you are. It's not recommended you begin teacher training at this time if you have another full-time commitment to another extra-circular event or hobby.

A public asana class is held from 4:30-6:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays specifically for teacher training delivery and feedback. Long weekends can not be missed under any circumstance.
